The Society of Torch & Laurel Privacy Policy By ‘clicking this box’ upon becoming a member of The Society of Torch & Laurel (Torch & Laurel), you are opting in to all Torch & Laurel communications, including email, text, phone, mail, and partner offers pertaining to educational, career, and leadership opportunities.

I. GENERAL POLICY.


Data collected by Torch & Laurel is used to provide better service to Torch & Laurel members and users of Torch & Laurel’s websites. It is Torch & Laurel’s policy to collect, store, and use personal information only if submitted by members and users. “Personal information” includes an individual’s name, address, contact numbers, email addresses, and other individualized data. It is different from “aggregate data,” which includes non-individualized information about an overall group, as well as users’ IP addresses, number of hits per page, etc.

II. USE OF DATA COLLECTED BY TORCH & LAUREL FROM ACTIVITY ON ITS SITES.

 

In order to provide access to certain features of Torch & Laurel’s site(s), a cookie is placed on the user’s computer. A cookie cannot read other data from your computer’s hard disk. It does not disseminate information about users over the Internet. Torch & Laurel does not allow third parties to set cookies from Torch & Laurel’s sites; cookies set by Torch & Laurel are used only to pass information from the user to and among Torch & Laurel’s web servers. Torch & Laurel does not collect any personal information from users browsing its websites. Users to the public areas of Torch & Laurel’s websites browse anonymously. Only aggregate data, such as IP addresses and the number of hits per page, are collected; these data do not provide any personally identifying information and are only used for internal analysis of website usage and traffic.

 

Torch & Laurel members

 

If you click through to the members section to gain access to Torch & Laurel’s members-only resources, you are opting in to all the communications noted above.

Thereafter, you may be asked to log in using some limited information such as username or email address and password or member number. When members log in, Torch & Laurel’s system will set a cookie in order to provide access to members-only information.

III. USE OF INFORMATION SUBMITTED BY TORCH & LAUREL MEMBERS AND USERS.

 

Torch & Laurel member services and products

Torch & Laurel uses data collected to improve its own website content; to respond to visitors’ interests, needs and preferences; to assess and develop new products and services, to facilitate communication with members via email, text, phone, and mail; and to allow partner organizations to offer goods and services pertaining to educational, career, and leadership opportunities.

 

Credit card information

 

Torch & Laurel does not disclose credit card account information provided by its members and customers except as necessary for completing transactions. Credit card information is used only for processing payments.

 

Opt-out

 

New prospective members contacted by Torch & Laurel may opt-out of receiving future emails by clicking the Unsubscribe link in the footer of the email received.

Torch & Laurel provides members with the opportunity to remove their names from the list that Torch & Laurel may provide to its partner organizations. To remove your information from any such list, please email info@torchandlaurel.org and request to be removed from third-party lists.

 

Torch & Laurel also sends emails on behalf of the organization and its partners. Torch & Laurel members may opt-out of receiving specific types of emails by clicking the Manage Preferences link in the footer of the email received. To opt-out of receiving all emails, please click Unsubscribe or Manage Preferences in the footer of the email received. IV. GENERAL PROVISIONS

 

Torch & Laurel’s websites contain links to other websites. Torch & Laurel has no control over and is not responsible for the privacy policies or content of such sites. Inclusion of links to an outside website, whether in an advertisement or content area of a Torch & Laurel website, is not an endorsement of the outside website or a guarantee that the information it contains is accurate.

 

Geographic Scope of Activity

 

Our activity and services are intended for and directed to users in the United States. Please note that if you access services from the European Union, Asia, or any other region with laws or regulations governing personal data collection, use, and disclosure that differ from United States laws, by using our services, you are transferring your Personal Information to the United States and you consent to that transfer.

Torch & Laurel’s websites have reasonable security measures in place to protect against the loss, misuse and alteration of information under our control.
