High achieving high school students across the country will have access to a new and improved high school honor society with the announced relaunch of The Society of Torch & Laurel.
High school honor societies have been around since 1921 when the National Honor Society was founded offering resources and services to students who meet the eligibility requirements. The Society of Torch & Laurel was first launched in 2013 and in that time has provided meaningful benefits to participating members. The two organizations have co-existed as each offers different benefits to members.
With the relaunch of Torch & Laurel, a program offered by The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS), the organization is tapping into what is really unique about the T&L offering which is its affiliation with NSCS. Now, Torch & Laurel members will have even more access to the resources and benefits of NSCS and most importantly, access to a mentor who is an existing college student. No other high school honor society is in a position to offer this opportunity to its members the way Torch & Laurel is in such a streamlined way.
NSCS and Torch & Laurel Executive Director, Scott Mobley, spoke about the relaunch,
“As an organization committed to recognizing and elevating high-achieving students from all backgrounds, we are delighted to be able to offer a new and improved solution for The Society of Torch & Laurel. Prospective members will have the opportunity to join and pick one of three membership tiers that meets their own personal needs. With each tier comes a set of benefits that offers tremendous value to the student. Our ability to ‘connect the dots’ for students getting ready to apply to and attend college will be invaluable to T&L members.”
